Empowerment Business Grant

The Steven Johnson Foundation is taking applications for business grants, awarded through a partnership with Empowerment Ministries Christian Center. Accepted applicants will have an opportunity to present their business idea or plan in a shark tank format before a board representing the Steven Johnson Foundation for a chance to receive a grant award of up to $1,500. Each grantee will also receive a mentorship opportunity with the Steven Johnson Foundation for further professional development. These grants can be used for startup costs, marketing, advertising, equipment, and other business needs

The deadline to apply for this grant is prior to 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

Guidelines & Eligibility

To be eligible for an Empowerment Business Grant, you must:

Be a member of Empowerment Ministries Christian Center in good standing.
Demonstrate a business need that the grant could fulfill.
Provide a detailed explanation of how you will use the grant proceeds.
Show how the grant will improve your business growth and success.
Offer supporting documentation such as a resume and business plan.
Submit the completed application prior to 1 p.m. Wednesday, November 15, 2023.
Present your business idea or plan before the board.

Criteria

In addition to the above guidelines, grant applications will generally be judged on the following criteria:

* Grant funds will increase business exposure.
* Grant funds will increase business capacity.
* Grant funds will positively impact the church, community, or surrounding businesses.
* Plans for spending grant funds are clearly defined.

It is important to note that the Empowerment Business Grant is awarded at the sole discretion of the board of sharks appointed by the Steven Johnson Foundation. Unfortunately, not everyone who applies will receive a grant. Decisions of the board are final and are not subject to appeal. No application feedback will be given. The Steven Johnson Foundation reserves the right to limit applications, modify or change the program at any time. In the event of such a change, applicants need not reapply to be considered. However, if you meet the eligibility requirements and have a strong business need that the grant could fulfill, it is definitely worth considering applying for the Empowerment Business Grant.
